The border phase of the Thatuna Granodiorite provides a unique geological setting allowing the creation of products that are very low in iron and other trace elements while offering other characteristics that create greater value:- feldspar products offer very high alumina and alkali levels
- high pure quartz products can be readily produced through routine flotation
- halloysite products have excellent aspect ratios and very low trace elements
- kaolin products have good brightness's and are being successfully tested in metakaolin applications
